If I haven't said it before, I'm spreading the word now: one the absolute best photographers in New York, Brandon Stanton, has been running the most heartfelt blog for several years. Stanton's Humans of New York (HONY) is a collection of New York's eccentric, beautiful, small, wild, old and extremely passionate people. It's a testament to city life, everyday journeys and big and little dreams. The truth and rawness of HONY photographs and mini interviews have brought tears to my eyes on multiple occasions, and I can't help but feel a greater connection to humanity. We are all living and going through good + hard times collectively.

In addition to photographing NYC citizens, Stanton is a selfless philanthropist. He put together a fundraiser for Hurricane Sandy victims and raised over $300,000, and his latest project raised over $100,000 for children at the Bed-Stuy YMCA to attend summer camp. Beyond this $100,000 contribution, Stanton persuaded DKNY to donate $25,000 to the YMCA for using his photographs without consent. He coordinates holiday meals and experiences for students and residents that have no family in the city, and has opened up his own home to share a meal.
